The selection for year 2 followed a different format to the straight surf competition in year 1.  There were training elements of surf life saving, surf coaching and beach environment as well as an expression session surf competition.  Predictably, the weather was atrocious with horizontal rain driven by a strong onshore wind.  Competitors were judged throughout the day on a variety of criteria by those leading the training.  The dedication and motivation of the competitors on the day was unsurpassable, which made the final selection incredibly tough.  Despite the weather, the day was very memorable as the 18 or so staff pulled together to help the event run safely and smoothly.
